Traditional Oatmeal

Rude Health's porridge fanatic, Camilla Barnard, competed at the 2009 Golden Spurtle World Porridge-Making Championships. She didn't win, but here's her recipe for traditional oatmeal.

Ingredients:

1 cup traditional medium-ground oatmeal

4 cups cold water

A pinch of sea salt

Method:

1. Pour the oatmeal into a heavy based pan containing the cold water.

2. Bring to the boil gently and stir often, with a spurtle of course!

3. Camilla's magic ingredient is Halen Mon's Vanilla Sea Salt. Add a small pinch once the water has boiled to transform this traditional oatmeal recipe into an irresistibly sublime bowl of porridge.

4. Once boiled, reduce the heat to a simmer and continue to cook for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the porridge is thick and creamy, stirring constantly.
